Our Mission
Triangle Special Hockey Association / Triangle Sled Hockey Association are dedicated to the development and enjoyment of ice
hockey for developmentally or physically challenged youth and adults.
We are associated with American Special Hockey Association and USA
Hockey Disabled Sled Hockey. We serve the Triangle and surrounding areas
of North Carolina. We are a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization
consisting of parents, volunteers, sponsors and of course, our
exceptional athletes.
Our Purpose
1. To encourage the formation of ‘Special Hockey Programs’ in the Raleigh, North Carolina area
2. To encourage the formation of ‘Sled Hockey Programs’ in the Raleigh, North Carolina area
3. To educate, motivate and encourage, individuals, who have
developmental or physical disabilities to participate in the sport of
ice hockey in an environment that is adapted to the level of ability of
the participating athletes
4. To integrate people with disabilities
with people without disabilities in order to promote awareness of
challenges and to encourage team building
5. To use the game of
hockey to assist individuals with disabilities in developing
characteristics such as dependability, self-reliance, confidence,
concentration, willingness to share and personal accountability, that
will help the individual be more successful both within and outside a
hockey environment
6. To educate and encourage the general public
about disability sports and special hockey in particular and to promote
societal awareness of the challenges, and needs of persons who have
developmental and physical disabilities.
Company Info
On June 28, 2007, Triangle Special Hockey Association (TSHA) is born in North Carolina. We are in our seventh year and currently
have 70+ children and adults in the program. In 2010 we started North Carolina’s
first sled hockey program for mobility challenged youth and adults.
These programs are fully donor funded and volunteer operated. TSHA
provides the program at low or no cost to families.
