My name is Bob Kramer. I am in my first year of playing sled
hockey. Growing up in MI I have always loved the game of hockey, but never
had/took the opportunity to learn to play. In 2008 I was walking my dog with my
wife Tania, a drunk driver jumped the curb and pinned me to a tree. I
subsequently lost my entire right leg and had my pelvis crushed. During my time
in the hospital and rehab I learned about all of the different sports that have
been adapted for those with disabilities, and became interested in trying sled
hockey. It wasn’t until moving from Portland, OR to Raleigh in 2014, that I
finally have gotten the opportunity. It has been a great experience. For the
first time in years I’ve found an outlet for all the frustrations of life and
the camaraderie of others. I’m excited to get the opportunity continue playing
and get better.
